Edwardian Cast Brass Coal Tongs

Handsome pair of solid brass coal tongs, c.1900. Designed for placing pieces of coal in braziers or smaller coal burning fireplaces, these tongs have nice turnings on the "legs", the upper portion with nubs to resemble wood, and the lower portion with attached shield shaped ends. The set measures 14 1/4" long and has a clasp to keep them together when not in use. The brass has developed a beautiful patina only age can give, and of course there are the age appropriate small dings from years of use. This pair is wonderful for a library or bedroom fireplace, and a great size for starter logs.
