A beautifully decorated antique Bohemian punch bowl or toddy set exquisitely decorated with enameled poppies, gold tracery, leaves, and acorns over green to pink paneled or optic glass. This to-die-for set includes the lidded serving bowl measuring 12" high to the top of the applied pink stem finial and 9 3/8" in diameter at its widest. The 6 matching gilded and poppy enamel cups with applied handles measure 3 3/4" high and hold 8 ounces. This set was likely intended as a wine or mulled cider set. The rims are ground and polished and have gilt traces; the bottoms are ground and polished smooth. The green glass glows softly when exposed to UV light. While we've been unable to ascertain a maker with absolute certainty, we believe this is likely the work of a major glass house such as Harrach, with Moser also a possibility. The reverse "rubina verde" shading of the glass and the decoration and just wonderful. The set is in fine condition with only a whisper of wear to the gilding. There is a small chip on the lid's opening where a ladle would rest, and one cup has a small internal crack near the handle as pictured, otherwise no damage. An amazing set from the late Victorian era done in the Art Nouveau style, destined to become a treasured heirloom. (White spots in the photos are reflections from our lighting.)
