Beautiful antique pressed glass footed compote c. 1875 and made by a number of companies, most notably Central Glass in 1870, Challinor, Taylor in 1875, and McKee in 1875. The pattern is known as "Loop" or "O'Hara" or "O'Hara's Loop" and has a wonderful scalloped rim and deep loop panels on the bowl; the molded base is annealed to the bowl with a wafer of clear glass. 7 3/4" high and having a top diameter of 8 3/4", this is perfect for serving fruit or vegetables. The glass is very clear and sparkles beautifully. There is some chiggering and a small clamshell on the base rim--you will have to look to see it as it is not very noticeable. A gorgeous antique piece of Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG).
