Antique Pressed Glass Portieux France Chimeras Covered Comport

c. 1900 antique pattern or pressed glass lidded comport or compote in the Chimeras (serpent) pattern by Portieux, France. Stands approximately 8 3/4" tall to top of lid finial; the compote is 6 1/8" in diameter. Glows a pale yellow when exposed to UV light, attesting to its age. Chimeras is one of Portieux' trademark patterns, featuring the winged creature surrounded by scrolls and leaves. The dish is in very nice antique condition with no chips, cracks, or damage. A wonderful example of turn-of-the-century pattern or pressed glass in the French tradition.
