A lovely old lidded jar by Mason's, England in the "Brocade" pattern. Brocade is a Chinese-inspired pattern featuring peonies, chrysanthemums, and an array of blossoms in a gilt trimmed black bowl with the outline of a gilt pagoda. It is done in a ginger jar shape, with the lid having 3 kidney-shaped openings--perfect for filling with potpourri or to use as a frog for flowers or decorative branches. The jar is on a rosewood stand. Overall height is 6 1/4" including the stand; the jar alone is 5 1/4" tall. Condition is very nice with no loss to the decoration, though there is overall fine crazing to the piece. One crazing line on the back side has darkened slightly with age as pictured. The mark on the bottom dates this piece between 1920-1923.
