SOLD Early 1800's Leeds Pottery Feather Edge Rectangular Platter
Very large early 19th century Leeds Pottery, Staffordshire, England earthenware platter with incised pattern and cobalt or flow blue feather or flame edge. It measures an extremely generous 16 3/4" x 13" and is 1 5/8" high at the edge. It weighs 4 3/4 lbs. Nice deep well and great rectangular shape. In very good condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, etc. and only a few tiny browning spots--very light. The platter is marked only "Best Goods" incised in small block letters on the reverse, which is the mark Leeds commonly used on these platters. The platter stands well on its own or would make a spectacular underplate for a large tureen or bowl. A very hard to find size and especially nice condition!
