Beautiful early 1900's Limoges style hand painted celery dish or bread tray. This dish has a wide gold encrusted scalloped and embossed rim with a verge line of green to resemble a trailing vine--and note the tulip buds at each "handle"! The pale yellow interior is wonderfully painted with pink flowers that we believe are tulips (botany not being our forte) or perhaps crocus and signed "Kohl". This lovely bowl measures 12 5/8" x 5 1/2" x 1 7/8" high. There are no chips or cracks or crazing; very slight wear to the gilt and 2 tiny flakes on the underside foot rim--shown in the photos so you can see how minor they are. The underside is faintly marked "Hand Painted" and we think the word underneath may be "Bavaria"; there is also a faint factory mark and an impressed mark that appears to be that of Beyer & Bock of Volkstedt, Thuringia, Germany, and we believe this mark would date 1905-1914.
