Happy Birthday America!
I just love a lot of the old Japanese porcelain of the Nippon era. Not only is it very old, some of the artistry is just as fine as what was produced in Europe at the time. This is a charming and unusual bowl with cut out handles on each side. It's shape is a bit different from the usual as well, because it is just slightly a rectangle measuring 7.5 inches across, 8.25 wide from handle to handle and stands apx. 2.25 inches high with a bowl depth of apx. 2 inches. It is a tranquil country scene that looks like Autumn with the foreward tree showing leaves turning orange. There is a lovely lake and mountains in the background. There is no gold beading on this piece--instead they have used a deep copper to bronze shade for the beading around the perimeter. Altogether, this is an unusual and beautiful piece that you will really enjoy adding to your collection.
