For your consideration, this is a beautiful antique brooch with a huge amethyst colored stone in the center which is approximately 7/8ths of an inch square and faceted..

The metal is gold tone, probably brass, with lovely flowers etched in each corner and a curly cue design running around from flower to flower. There is also a twisted rope design that surrounds the setting.
