For your consideration, I am pleased to offer a pair of antique Dresden candle holders from Richard Klemm studios. Richard Klemm operated a decorating studio in Dresden from about 1869 to 1949 and was known for his painting in the Meissen and Vienna styles. His company used blanks from Meissen, Rosenthal, KPM and Limoges, according to "Dresden Porcelain Studios", by J. & S. Harran.

It is unusual to find a pair of these. However, they were not both produced at the same time. One is older than the other. One dates from 1888-1916, the other from 1914-1949 according to the Hallmarks on the backs. Perhaps one was a replacement for a piece that had become damaged.

They stand 6.5 inches tall are 3 5/8ths inches across the base, and the top of the bobeche is 2 inches. They feature stylized Dresden flowers in the usual lilacs, rusts, yellows and pinks. There is applied gilt at the base, around the central waist and an intricate gilt pattern on the top. One has more wear to the gilt than the other, as I have tried to show in the photos.

There are no chips, cracks or crazing to either. There is normal wear to the gilt, and as I stated before, more wear on one than on the other. They feature the hallmarks for Richard Klemm studios as stated above.

A wonderful pair of candle holders to add to any collection of Dresden!
