This is an unusual vintage compact by Clarice Jane which was owned by Elgin. It is a very pretty brushed gold toned metal with white enameling. The center design features a cross and shepherd's staff, which I have not seen on a compact before. I know that the design is used in the Masonic Fraternal Order, so there is a possibility this was created for members of Eastern Star, the women's group. If anyone knows more about this, please write and inform me!

This lovely compact measures 2.25 inches square and stands .25 high. It has the original powder puff that looks as though it hasn't been used, and there is rouge in the rouge container, as shown in the photos. The mirror is in very good condition with no de-silvering. There are a couple of very fine scratches on the enamel that I have tried to show in the photos. However, they aren't really noticeable and do not detract from this piece's uniqueness and desireability.

A great addition to any compact collection.
