For your consideration, I am pleased to present a truly fabulous Art Nouveau period brooch that features a large center red "stone" of unknown composition, that has been hand painted to give the appearance of rhinestones! This may be bakelite but due to the painting, I didn't dare test it.

Set in a gold toned base metal, this stunning brooch also has a red glass stone flanking each side of the massive center piece. The piece measures 3 inches wide and is 1 inch tall; the center "stone" is 15/16ths long by 11/16ths wide and each of the flanking "stones" are .25 inches in diameter. It has the old "c" clasp closure. There is some wear to the base metal but not enough to detract from the absolute "Wow" beauty of this unusual and rare piece.
