For your consideration, I offer this beautiful Kelly style alligator bag from the 1950s. It is dark brown and features large scales. The interior has a zippered pocket, 2 slip in pockets and a separate kiss clasp closure wallet or money holder. This is authentic alligator, not leather embossed to look like alligator!

The bag measures 9.25 inches top to bottom, 11.75 at the bottom, 11.25 at the top of the frame and is 8.5 inches deep from the bottom of the inside up to the closure or catch. The handles are secured by screw-on pieces of metal, a hallmark of a high quality purse. There is a monogram "CPV" that you can see in the photos, and there is some wear to the metal. These metal pieces should be easy and inexpensive to replace through a good shoe repair if so desired. The stitching all around the bag is in very good condition without loosening. There is a bit of wear to the handle at the base above where it meets the metal fitting, but you have to really look to notice it.

The bag itself is in over all very good vintage condition. The interior is clean and odor free, except for the smell that is inherent to any leather or hide bag and that is faint.

You would easily pay $2500 and above at Saks for a bag like this, and I don't think you would find it at that price! A wonderful opportunity to own a genuine and investment accessory that you will pass down to your daughter or niece.
