Happy Birthday America!
For your consideration I am pleased to offer one of two antique Minton tiles ca. 1875 that were designed by John Moyr Smith as part of a series of twelve called the "Idylls of the King." Idylls of the King are a series of poems by Lord Alfred Tennyson based on tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Each of these tiles were done in a wonderful color way of brown and blue against a white setting and are highly sought after by collectors.
"Vivien" is one of the stories. The tile is 6 inches by 6 inches. It has some crazing, a few minor chips on the rim and some discoloration to the blue in one area as shown in the photos. They are marked "Minton's China Works Stokes on Trent."
What a fabulous addition to a collection of Minton. I am also listing separately, "Excalibur" another title in this series. They can be purchased and shipped together.
