Happy Birthday America!
For your consideration, I am pleased to offer this magnificent cabinet plate from the studio of Ambrosius Lamm who operated a porcelain painting studio from 1887 to 1949. His studio was known for painting in the Meissen, Vienna and Copenhagen style. He bought blanks from a number of manufacturers including Meissen and Rosenthal. The "Dictionary of European Porcelain" calls his porcelains of "outstanding quality." The Haran's in their book "Dresden Porcelain Studios" states that he produced porcelain cabinet plates "rivaling the quality of Royal Vienna and Sevres.: Very high praise indeed!
This beautiful plate is 9.5 inches in diameter and stands 1 inch tall. It has a beautiful rich blue dotted with tiny specks of gold around the scalloped border. There are beautiful wreathes of flowers in multiple tones and swags with gilt work. Understated and exquisitely elegant. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other problems, only minor wear to the gilt in places.
