We are offering this very difficult to find spiral bound book entitled Tykie Toy Tales, illustrated with and stories about the 1940s Tykie Toy character bakelite or catalin baby crib toys.

Book was published by Tykie Toy Company, Piqua, Ohio, copyright 1946. Stories written by Virginia Saunders using the characters created by Dick Grosvenor, with illustrations by Virginia and Don Saunders.

Included stories are: Baby Bunny and the Magic Merry-Go-Round

Settie Lou and Sweater Boy go to a Taffy Party

Cannibal Baby (Yo, the Black Baby)

Peepo the Clown

Bobby Bear and his Happy Home

Book is in excellent condition, with only very minor edge and corner wear, and small age related marks. Plastic binding is perfect, and all pages are bright and clean. A few have very minor light smudge type marks. Cover has a few light scratch marks, three on the back and one on the front.

Front of book is stamped Complimentary Copy Not to be Sold, so I believe these books were give-aways with the purchase of Tykie crib toys. Or, may have been distributed to store owners to promote the book, as this came from the estate of a gentleman who owned a child’s clothing store in the 1940s – 1950s.

Because of the rare nature of this book, I have tried to mention every little defect, but this book is really in super condition and I think you will be quite pleased should you purchase it. Another copy of this title sold recently for more than my asking price. Only rarely do you find a copy in this fine condition.
