This book is apparently from true life events in the Pacific War Zone at Guadalcanal and center around a marine’s mascot dog and a flier’s mascot kitten. Front and end papers have actual letters dated 1943 from Lieutenant Follett to his children while he was serving in the War. It’s such a delightful story for young children.
Book is a pictorial hardcover, 32 pages, and measures 9 1/4 by 7 1/4. The owner’s name is written in crayon on the title page and there is an inscription inside the front cover. There is some brown toning inside front and back covers and a small 1/2 inch tear on the last page.
Binding is tight. All inside pages are clean, with just slight toning, no marks or stains, and all have fabulous illustrations. No offensive odors. Cover has some marks on the surface, wear on the corners and edges, with losses at the top and bottom of the spine.
It’s a sound little book, despite the cover faults, and priced very reasonable for this hard to find book.
