Vintage 1800s Victorian Gas & Electric Six Arm Brass Chandelier

Absolutely fabulous late 1800s Victorian gas and electric combination chandelier, with three gas and three electric arms, all in solid brass, and totally converted to electric. Heavy brass ornamental castings of acanthus leaves and cartouches make this one spectacular lighting fixture.

Arms curve outward from a highly detailed cartouche casting on the central 8 inch brass ball. Detailed acanthus leaves trail along the arms leading to the gas candles (now converted to electricity), and also form a covering for each electric socket. Base of each candle socket is also in the form of a beautifully detailed leaf. Acanthus leaves and brass beading highlight the lower canopy. Even the base of the central ball has a heavy ornate casting, ending in a pineapple finial. Candle sockets have replacement beeswax covers that resemble real candles.

Fixture was polished and rewired about 10 years ago and has now mellowed to an aged brass finish. No lacquer has been applied, so it could be polished to shiny brass and lacquered, if desired. Vintage shades are a glossy white lustre finish, with vertical ribs and highly embossed puffy flowers around the rim. Inside has a satin finish.

Fixture measures 39 inches from top of ceiling canopy to lowest arm, with a 30 inch spread. Ball is approximately 8 inches wide and 7 inches high. Shades measure 4 3/4 inches by 4 3/4 inches.

There are a few insignificant and minor dings on the ball. One shade has a small chip on the inside at lower rim. Shows on outside as a loss of white color, but is quite small and doesn’t impact it negatively.

This fabulous Victorian chandelier is quite SPECTACULAR ~ with beautifully detailed ornamental castings ~ and is a wonderful large size. Certain to make a statement in any room!
