What a surprising shock that we haven't always had briefcases. If you took the train on your business trip from Philadelphia to New York in 1890, this wonderful box would have taken priority over your toothbrush, much less your luggage. It would have been wrapped with two leather straps that Houdini would have found challenging. It didn't matter if Houdini was on your train. The box was never out of your sight. 8 3/4" wide. 16 1/2" long. 6 1/2" tall. Wonderfully patinated varnished hardboard with leather loops where the straps banded it. Fair condition for its age. Look great on a shelf in your library or on a night table. Or just to store your important papers.
