Through four generations. Pennsylvania. Circa 1880. 85" x 85". (The quilt is shown here on a queen-size bed). Cotton. Hand pieced and hand quilted. Quilting to pattern and grid. Medallion squares in dark green print. Smaller chain squares in small-print fabric. Light weight (possibly used as a summer quilt). Cotton batting. Printed applied straight grain binding. Whole cloth printed back. Back and binding shown in photos. Excellent condition. A beautiful old quilt in near perfect condition. It was acquired from an 85- year-old-friend (in West Virginia) who received it as a gift from her mother-in-law who received it from her grandmother (in Pennsylvania), the maker of the quilt. This beautiful old quilt has been tenderly cared for all of its life which accounts for its condition. An American folk treasure.
