Antique Ornate English Repousse Cake Basket/Bride Basket

This very decorative cake or fruit basket, was bought in England, and is made of silver plated repousse metal and has a swing handle. The silver plating is in Excellent condition apart from a very tiny plate loss spot to the inside centre of the basket. We do not believe the basket has had much use as the handle remains up when placed in that position (hinges can get very slack from frequent use). The basket is fluted in shaped and has highly decorative open latticework panels alternating in heavily embossed panels and sits on a plain pedestal foot. Underside has plate marks part of which reads A1 and makers mark initials (possibly SG over EW) & 3 hall-marks, and the number 10865. The basket measures 10" diameter, stands 10" tall, with the basket height of 4". Handle has a beaded decoration. Will enhance any table.

The Peach Crest Bowl (which is sold separately) is also detailed, with an eight point, ruffled, star shape, in a fantastic shade of rose pink The bowl measures 9" in diameter, and stands 3 1/2" tall. The bottom of the bowl, has a hand blown ash mark, with no cracks chips or repairs, the set is in Excellent Condition. Truly an exceptional basket and bowl. The price listed is for the basket.
