This is truly a unique highly detailed figural Silver Plated Brides Basket, or Sweet Meat Basket. The figure at each handle is portraying "Old Man, North Wind". the top of the handle has two birds, which could be swans or albatross, with the rest of the basket decorated in beautiful leaf designs. There is a spoon or fork holder, incorporated in the handles design. The surface that holds the bowl, is done in an intricate herring bone pattern, that gives a non-slip texture. (Please see my pictures). The mark on the bottom of the 10" wide by 14 1/2" high basket, reads, "James W. Tufts, Boston, Warranted Quadruple Plate" with the numbers, "207, 14". The basket has an over-all, lovely patination.
The Blue Rib Optic is a beautiful antique striped baby blue ruffled edge Art Glass bowl, which measures 9 1/2" wide by 4" tall. The ruffled edge of the bowl is opalescent, and the shade of blue becomes deeper towards the center of this gorgeous piece of glasswork. There are no chips or cracks in this wonderful piece, only a manufactures straw mark, which is customary, in these old pieces.
The set is in Excellent Condition. This is a Great Find for the collector.
