A very nice figural ivory carving of a gnome made in late 19th century Europe (most likely German). It depicts the mystical creature kneeling down onto a bed of rocks, with tools in his hands. He is wearing a hooded cloak and is in a humble, working pose. Good, clear carving. A very unique and rare item; ivory folk carvings have been increasing in value and continue to do so!

Condition: His left foot is missing, and the tool in his left hand may have been longer.

Measurements: 2 1/4 in. high x 1 3/4 in. long x 1 1/2 in. wide
