Ivory Carving of Woman with Fox - Dieppe, ca. 1840 - French Antique

This unusual ivory figure was made in Dieppe, France, ca. 1840. A young woman, holding a basket and clutching a bouquet of flowers, is sitting on an old brick wall. Out from behind a tree trunk jumps a fox and startles the woman. Her body language is timeless! It sits on a later added celluloid base.

Condition: Excellent.

Measurements: Total: 3 1/4 in. long x 2 in. deep x 2 1/4 in. high. Ivory alone: 2 in. long x 2 in. high.
