This handsomely bound book contains 530 pages of not only hundreds of recipes, but also suggestions for house-cleaning, restoring old clothes, removing stains, cleaning the 'sick room' and more. The book's preface gives a wonderful glimpse of the reverence for women and her role in the home at the time the book was written.
At the back of the book are three copies of old advertising; The Champion Monitor (a cook/heating stove), Dr. Scott's Electric Corset (a girdle with Electro-magnetism supposed to ward off disease and preserve good health) and the Grand Depot, Philadelphia, able to purchase goods for the lowest city prices.
Originally copyrighted by John P. Morgan in 1879. This copy is a 1965 reprint. It is in excellent condition with minor bumps on the corners of the red covers. The binding is tight and there are no marks, tears, or soil on the book.
