An incredibly beautiful piece of jewelry! This Edwardian style (1900-1915) brooch is 14 karat gold white-gold bezel, framing an oval, Italian carved, natural shell cameo. The 1-7/8" long and 1-3/8" wide brooch depicts a classical feminine beauty. She is intricately detailed with ribbons, roses and soft coiffed hair. The solid white-gold frame, expertly shaped and covered with leafy designs, supports the cameo 1/4" high above the frame. Hold the cameo in front of light and see the lovely, natural transparency of the shell.

CONDITION: Excellent antique condition. Professionally cleaned. No chips, repairs, or damage. The pin is slightly bent as seen in the photo of the back of the cameo. Marked 14 karat gold on the "C" type, locking back catch fitting. Appraised by an independent, registered gemologist. No discoloration to the front. The back shows minute calcium deposits at the very top of the shell.
