Vintage Booths blue willow deep saucer with the wonderful blue and white pattern of two birds in the sky over a pagoda in a garden. Brilliant blue and white - colors are very crisp. The gold around the edge of inside is an intricate geometric pattern on white. The outer rim has a detailed geometric in varying blue tones. From the mid 20th century, gold around edge has some wear, otherwise this piece is in excellent condition. The bottom reads 'Booths', 'Real Old Willow', 'Silicon China', 'Made in England'. A beautiful Real Old Willow piece to add to any collection.

The story of Blue Willow is a romantic tale of two lovers.The story is about a wealthy mandarin who lived in a beautiful pagoda and had a beautiful daughter named Hong Shee, who was loved by a boy named Chang. To keep them apart, the mandarin imprisoned his daughter in the palace.One day she escaped and the two lovers raced over the bridge to a boat, her father hot on the trail. They managed to reach the boat and sail away. The boat capsized in a bad storm, and the couple were lost at sea. It is said two lovebirds appeared immediately thereafter--the spirits of Hong Shee and Chang. They are forever remembered as the two birds in the sky gazing at each other on the blue willow china.
