Specializing in pottery, glass and silver, some vintage and some collectible. Beautiful objects for the home!
Beautiful Kutani pitcher in excellent condition, signed on the bottom in Japanese characters. From the Meiji period, c. 1900, this porcelain piece is brilliant in color and wonderfully painted in detail. It is in excellent condition, no chips or cracks. The handle is in a bamboo shape, typical for the period, and the pitcher is an unusual hexagon shape, with six sides of intricate painting. One side has two figures reclining, one reading and the other writing. The other five sides have a floral motif, each one a little different, with pink and orange. One of the florals features a little bird. Intricate gold accents are painted all over the piece. The detail and quality of painting on this pitcher are absolutely stunning. What a wonderful example of fine Japanese porcelain!
