A 7 1/2" porcelain portrait of Marie Therese (19 December 1778 – 19 October 1851) ~the plate bears the name Marie Therese to the bottom right of her portrait ~ trimmed with gold and in excellent condition....this plate bears the Victoria Carlsbad Austria marking dating this ca. 1891

The Hapsburg house of Austria was the oldest royal house of Europe, and the youngest princess was Marie Antoinette ,who was to become the beautiful Queen of France who became a symbol for the extravagance of the 18th century monarchy,

However, this plate depicts the picture of her daughter~ Marie Therese~ the first born child of King Louis XVI of France and Marie Antoinette and the only member of her immediate family to survive at the onset of the French Revolution ~ As the eldest daughter of the king, she was given the official title Madame Royale ~

The Princess was named after the Queen's mother, Austrian Empress Maria Therese ~
