An exceptional example of old world painting on porcelain~bearing the artist's signature and Rs germany mark on the bottom~ this hand painted jam jar/mustard jar is made of a very high grade antique european porcelain...trimmed with heavy gold coin and in excellent to mint condition. Standing an est. 2 1/2" tall ~ also included is it's small porcelain spoon....

**the rs germany hand painted hat pin holder is not included in this listing,it is listed separately for sale and is also in excellent to mint condition

This is an original antique hardpaste european porcelain from the Tillowitz region in upper germany it is made of the same ingredients and methodolgy as that of Limoges.... this jam jar was created by the Reinhold Schlegelmilch factory.....Erdmann Sclegelmilch started a factory in 1861 and began the production of R.S Prussia hardpaste porcelain, Reinhold began his factory in 1869 and by 1910 with the emergence of his R.S Germany mark began a concentration in handpainted tablewares. He also began exporting these exceptional quality blanks for the American China Painting market...Pickard also imported and used many of the R.S Germany line due to the very high standards and quality he found in them....his artists painted many of these pieces....and of those he marked with the Pickard markings his is the most often found on the R.S Germany line..The U.S thought so much of the R.S Germany line that many high end department stores had special lines/patterns created just for them ...by 1910, his son was using the all-green "RS Germany" mark.....Pieces bearing the "RS Prussia" or the "RS Germany" mark can be found among the most distinguished collections. .... ...the pieces produced at the Tillowitz factory bearing the "RS Germany" mark throughout the years tended to simpler molds and more subtle decoration
