Offering wonderful examples of hand painted LIMOGES, MEISSEN, NIPPON, ROSENTHAL and R.S. PRUSSIA...just to name a few!
The back bears a RARE, not often seen, green underglaze white ware mark. Very few pieces have been seen with this backstamp. From other examples, the mark was in use during the 1920's, as referenced by the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, Third Edition, by author Mary Frank Gaston (Page 426).
This lovely plate measures 8 5/8" and with the exception of a small sliver chip on the back edge, (as shown in the photograph that we have provided...which CANNOT be seen from the front at all)...it is in excellent condition with no cracks, hairlines or restoration. The gilded edge and border are in excellent condition as well.
A great example of hand painted antique Limoges porcelain with a rare, green underglaze white ware mark, and not often seen, rare sealife, seascape decoration which is hard to find as well!
Thank you for your interest!
