Welcome! Thanks for stopping at my shop, the right place for purchasing the best antique cameos on the web. Layaway Welcome!
Size: 1 6/8 " including the bale by 2/8".
Date and Origin: Circa 1870 Italy, frame is English.
Conditions: A tiny gold wirework loss at 5 o'clock not noticeable, otherwise mint.
I'm very pleased to offer this so lovely cameo with an excellent quality carving. This cameo brooch depicts a bacchante. Bacchantes were followers of Bacchus (or Dionysus), the God of wine. The frame is more than spectacular, flowers and intricately gold work, 18 k gold . This is a wonderful work of art, very detailed cameo. Small cameo but of great effect when worn. Rarest cameo and frame very desirable collectors' piece. Thanks for looking!
