A colorful cast of Cockatoos, Macaws, Pigeons, Hummingbirds, Toucans and Tropical Birds are displayed to perfection on this old and unique hooked or punched rug. This rug originally was in a Doctor's residence in Louisiana and was sold to us when he passed on. It was purchased in 2003 by one of our customers and a move has forced the original buyer to pass on the pleasure of its ownership it to you! Not a small rug, it measures approx. 66.75" x 42.75" and would make a most marvellous wall hanging, with its vibrant hues and delightful detail. The back features a burlap backing that’s been sewn down over the rug’s reverse side to cover & protect the yarn, which was done at the same time the binding was applied. The rug is in wonderful condition although I do see a loose thread here & there, mostly along the edge (see pic) and some moisture stains on the back that do not come through to the front. There is also a small hole in the burlap backing, no biggie. Almost certainly one-of-a-kind and a REAL eye-catcher, you'll love it even more in person, we promise!
