Victorian Knife Holder w/ Bronze Knives

Experience the elegance of Europe with this stunning and rare silverplate knife holder from the mid-1800's to early 1900's. Sporting a crested bird on a T-stand at the top (a Cockatoo perhaps?) the flair doesn't stop there, for in the middle you'll find a swagged skirt and faces & buttons on the base. But the bounty doesn't stop THERE, for also included are six pearl-handled fruit knives. Très chic! The stand itself is 8.75" tall to the top of the bird's wing and is 3 5/8" in diameter at the base. Each knife is 6.5" in length and is marked ""Stahl-Bronce" (stainless bronze) on the blade. All are in good condition with the usual signs of age; they need to be polished and sharpened. The stand is unmarked and is also in good condition. It shows its age via some wear to the plating, which shows copper underneath; this is mostly on the buttons above the skirt and on the faces. The bird and stem are of heavier stuff than the holder area and base, making for nice balance, even more so when the knives are added. A splendid set for use or display, one we're certain you'll be proud of!
