Art Deco Cockatoo Bookends from Europe

Just flown in from France and full of Deco delight are these exceptional bookends, made of metal and marble and each sporting an excited Cockatoo in the center. The detail is dramatic as is the pose of the birds, with raised wings and raised crests these guys are ready to get bookin'! The marble is variegated with shades of burgundy, tan and white and each piece has felt on the bottom to protect your furniture. The Cockatoos are contained via screws on the underside of the marble, which can be seen where the felt has been punctured. The set is in excellent condition with not even the smallest chip to the marble (incredible, I know) and the birds are tight. Their silverish finish has darkened in some places over the years leaving them with a most pleasing patina. Unmarked but undoubtedly well made, you'll be thrilled with these, we're sure!
