Vintage Metal & Brass Parrot Lamp

If you're looking for (another) Parrot to light up your life then this splendid specimen from Spain is certainly up to the task. Well made and VERY heavy (almost 22 pounds) this vintage lamp is created in the form of a Parrot perched in a ringed stand topped by a brass shade. The shade, finial, lampworks and stand are brass, the Parrot is silverplate and the base is some sort of painted metal. The lamp is turned on & off via a switch on the cord and takes three medium sized light bulbs (about the size of large Christmas bulbs). Don't let the pics fool you - this lamp is large - measuring 34.5" tall to the top of the finial and 16 5/8" in diameter at the bottom of the shade. Although in good condition, the lamp shows its age via tarnish and discolorations on the brass shade (see pic). The silverplated Parrot has also darkened (I kinda like him that way) and there are indentations on the bottom of the pole (see that pic, too). I also see some paint wear on the base though nothing major. The lamp still retains its original European wiring and is marked "Patented, Made in Spain" on the finial. The Parrot is VERY well detailed and at 10.25" in length and 3.25" in width, is just about life-sized (for a Quaker or Conure, anyway!) Quite different and certainly rare, a lamp you may likely never see again. You...will....LOVE.... it!
