European Heron Pocketwatch Stand

If you hanker for Herons, Egrets or Cranes, then watch this (literally!) Here we have a most unusual brass stand from Germany, styled into an ever "watchful" Crane. Below the bird is a most ornate base, and above, a well for a taper candle (so you can see what time it is, I guess.....) while the hanging hook projects from the breast of the bird on one side. The watch holder measures 7 1/8" tall and is 4.25" x 3.25" at the base. Unmarked. It is in grand condition and the bird is securely held to the base via a (rusty) screw on the bottom. Great not only for pocket watches, but for compasses, hanging pictures, stop watches, or even a special piece of jewelry. Quite heavy and certainly ornate, you're bound to be pleased with this one!
