Bronze & Marble Tray w/ Cockatoo

A super marble trinket (or change) tray from Europe with an attendant 'Too, who's made of metal and forever chained to his perch. The tray was created during the Deco years (1920's or 30's) and has a nice weight for its size (1.5 lbs.) with rich veining in the marble and excellent feather detail on the bird. Measures 6 1/8" long. 4" at its widest area and 4 7/8" tall. Although perfection the tray isn't perfect: I spy two cracks in the marble, one on the side that goes underneath and into the tray for about an inch, and one on the front that goes into and underneath the tray for about 1.5". Both are tight and don't compromise the tray's sturdy structure. The Cockatoo wiggles a bit where his perch & the marble meet and I see some welding where he's attached to the perch, which may be original. If not, it was done lonnnnnng ago. (I think it's original, though). There are also a few scratches in the marble and darkening here & there, a testament to its age. Unmarked. A grand piece not only for vanities and dressers but for use on the desk as a paperweight / paper clip holder. Despite my seemingly endless list of flaws (the better to inform you with), this piece is NICE. We are certain you'll be thrilled to call it YOURS!
