Bronze & Metal Bird Bath Pedestal Tray

A highly embellished, decorative pedestal tray from Germany, done in the shape of a bird bath with two bronze birds perched at each end. The tray is made of brass colored metal with a design in the center and pedestal base, and a linear motif along the top edge. The piece is quite vintage and looks it, with wear along the inside top edge, some spots of dark discoloration on the interior, and some wear along the base bottom (see pics). VERY close examination has revealed one of the birds (Swallow) is missing its tail feathers, but without turning it over and really studying it, you would just think it to be another species than the one across from it. It is well made, the birds are attached via screws, and unmarked. A wonderful piece for the hallway table, holding candy, or would make a most elegant business card holder. Quite unusual and as well as rare and useful, too. How can you go wrong?
