Art Deco Tookie Bird Bookends from Germany

A pair of handcarved kooky Tookie bird bookends from 1920's-30's Germany, featuring bakelite beaks and glass eyes. Now I don't know what kind of birds these are supposed to be (thus the term Tookie) although they could be some sort of Heron or other long-billed bird. What I DO know is that they are useful as well as decorative and measure 5.75" tall and 4" long and wide. Unmarked. They are structurally in good condition but I have noted some spots of discoloration on one (see pics) with two lighter areas (MUCH lighter) on the other, and although I'm no expert, I believe the wood is walnut. A fine Deco pair for fun 'n funky you, guaranteed to keep your books at bay (or at least upright!)
