Victorian European Linen Scarf w/ Parrot

A high quality, heavy weight, off-white linen scarf from the late 19th century, sporting a posed Macaw on one end and an arrangement of flowers on the other. Both bird and bouquet are surrounded by columns and framed by a decorative border. The scarf comes to us from Germany, where it has been in storage for many, many (many ) years. The top and bottom edges are unfinished (see pic) while the sides are (see that pic, too). The scarf measures 45" in length and 20" in width. The design is very subtle until the light hits it the right way, and then the scene BURSTS forth in amazing detail. The runner is in good condition, with a couple of very faint age related stains and a very small hole (see pic, I grouped them all together for your convenience, they do not appear this way on the scarf). An exceptional piece, one I'm almost certain you'll never see again. If you like fine quality linens from the Old Country, then this is certain to be a jewel in your collection. You will LOVE it!
