A gorgeous (and heavy) silverplate napkin ring, produced by the Meriden B. Company between 1886-1889. On the side of the ring sits an interesting (or perhaps interested, judging by his crest) Cockatoo, with nice feather detail and a sweet face. The napkin ring is engraved with both flowers and the name "Lide" (?) at the top and has a design along the edges. A fun silverplate napkin ring of the Avian variety, featuring a long-tailed Parrot on one side (possibly a Macaw) and a little Dutch boy on the other. The ring is hexagonal rather than the usual round shape and the base has a nice Nouveau pattern of flowing lines and florals.
