An elegant and exceptional electroplated egg caddy from Victorian England, featuring a curious Cockatoo on a T-stand above and removable egg cups below. Both the cup rims and the tray have a pie crust edge, while the tray features four ball and claw feet. There are slots in between each egg cup for the placement of a spoon and the Parrot serves as the tray's handle. Recently flown in from England and looking great for his 100+ years, is this Parrot pincushion with a stoic expression (which makes sense given the poking and prodding he receives). He's a wee one, measuring 3.75" from beak to tail, and 1.25" wide at his Birdie breast yet is quite heavy and well made, with excellent Parrot-y detail and an elegant patina. Unmarked. A spectacular piece from late 1800's Europe featuring a pair of teeter-tottering Cockatoos flanked by glass candleholders.
