05/08/08Howdy!
Welcome to Antique Beak, a shop dedicated to Parrot and Bird lovers everywhere!
Wow, we have so much to tell you this week we don't know where to begin so let's just start with this week's wonders, shall we? As you might have noticed our latest lovelies from Germany landed, ten of which you'll find within the "This Week's Arrivals" link just above. But be prepared, you might find yourself clicking in more than one way, for this week's treasures are truly that, treasures. including an awesome pair of Art Deco Cockatoo bookends and a Victorian Knife Holder that is simply divine. We also added some of the usual suspects - figurines from Goebel (DO take a look at the Eagle!) and Hutschenreuther, fun metal marvels (one that's sure to light your fire) and other various and assorted finds.
But you haven't seen the last of our European bounty, oh no, for next week we'll be back with even more grand and astounding birds including an Art Deco coat rack (you are going to FLIP), an Art Nouveau tray, fantastic figurines and a few surprises just to keep you guessing. We also have more Hofbauer crystal but it will have to wait, for there's too much to list in one week. (I know, how awful, right?)
Besides our German gems we also purchased many, many (many) items from a private collector in California and brought back a few boxes o' boids from our trip to North Carolina last week. Whew! If that weren't enough, we are also negotiating a deal with still another collector in Colorado, so the bird pickings are going to be good in the next few months. Better stop by every week, that way you won't miss a thing!
Speaking of missing, don't (I repeat DON'T) miss our 8th anniversary celebration beginning the first week of June and lasting all month. We'll begin it with our world famous Budgie Blast, follow up with Macaw Madness, and if the crested creatures steal your heart then our Cockatoo-a-Rama is sure to be a hit. All the while we'll be having various specials, drawings, and fun events. We'll also be giving away a free gift with each order (yep, it's OUR anniversary but YOU get the gift!) We'll be sending out email invitations towards the end of the month, be sure to look for yours.
And now for the Birdie portion of our program! This week we focus on that sure sign of Spring.... Babies! My trip to North Carolina was pretty special, made even more so when I spied this pair of Canadian Geese with their tots in tow.

Mom was always about, teaching the tots what was good to eat and what was not (shadows may be light but they are less filling....)

Tired of shadow staring Junior and Junette decided grass guzzling was more fun (Gertie, however, was sticking with Mom!)

While I was away babies were visiting our backyard, too, as evidenced by this cutie Cardinal who decided to have a hand (or beak) at our feeder.

However, Birdie didn't seem too pleased at sharing this page with the Geese, stating that baby Cardinals are MUCH cuter, an assertion he's evidently, ah, "sticking" with! :-)

The Cardinals weren't the only visitors to our yard this past week (although according to Baby they were the cutest) so join us here next week for Purple Finchcapades!
Yep, the countdown has begun to the biggest Beak Bash of the year, our anniversary. Thanks to everyone who helped us make it to our 8th year with both sales & suggestions, friendship & encouragement, and assistance & participation. It means more to me than you will ever know. Thanks again for MAKING the Beak. See you all again next week (we have some EXCITING stuff coming up, don't miss it!)

We also buy bird items and consider trades in some cases. If you have anything you think we'd like, let us know!
We know how difficult it is to buy items seen only on a flat screen, so we have taken a few views of most items so you can get a good idea of what it looks like from all angles. If you need additional photos of anything please don't hesitate to ask!
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!
