This is a vintage D&E (aka Juliana) floral brooch that is layered and accented with gold-tone metal leaves. The design has open back light blue skinny navette rhinestones and BEAUTIFUL blue aurora borealis chaton rhinestones prong set in gold-tone metal. The stem has tiny inset blue rhinestones. This is MUCH PRETTIER than the pictures. It measures 2 7/8" long and has the correct pin assembly with safety mechanism in good working order. The brooch is unsigned, but it was made by DeLizza & Elster. Note the layered construction, rivets on the back holding the flowerettes, open and closed back stones, heavy plating, striking design and quality of workmanship. The gold-tone metal leaves are also known D&E elements and are pictured on page 34 of Katerina Musetti's "Art of Juliana Jewelry". Mr. DeLizza refers to these findings as "flame" findings and pictures an example on page 119 of his book, "Memoirs of a Fashion Jewelry Manufacturer". I understand that due to a new Ruby Lane policy, I am not allowed to tell you that this has been verified by the owner of DeLizza & Elster as one of their pieces, so besides all the correct design and construction elements, I can only say that I have researched this line of jewelry thoroughly and know it well. I have the utmost confidence in this piece and all the DeLizza & Elster pieces I have listed in my shop and would not claim them to be D&E unless I felt sure.
