SALE Antique Tortoise Shell Pin w/Oriental Mother of Pearl Inlaid Characters

From out of an old estate collection, this is a Victorian brooch of genuine tortoise shell with inlaid mother of pearl Chinese or Oriental characters. I don't know what they stand for, but they usually are symbols of good luck. This measures 1 3/8" and dates to around the turn of the century. I think the clasp has been replaced, but this was done a long time ago from the look of the old glue. It is otherwise in very good condition with a few fine cracks in the mother of pearl, consistent with age, but no missing pieces.
