From out of an estate collection, this is an antique brooch that has a wonderful "cat's eye" or operculum shell set in genuine tortoise shell. It dates to around the late 1800's. The shell is held in place with prongs cut from the tortoise shell frame...very different! This measures 1 7/8" and has an old "J" style clasp in good working order. This pin is in EXCELLENT vintage condition. The cat's eye shell has wonderful green color. This is a real TREASURE to add to your collection or a GREAT gift for the collector on your list!
