Ca.1780 Bilston Battersea Enamel Love Bird

This is a lovely item! I've had plenty of love bird Bilston boxes, but this is the first time I came across something like this. Some collectors call this a curtain tie; others call it a mirror hold. One could also use it to hang a coat or a towel. In other words, this item has flexible uses. Enough of that.

It measures 3 1/8 inches long. The circular plate measures 1 7/8 inches in diameter with the enameled element measuring 1 1/2". So, this is quite an imposing artwork.

The iron screw-tip has a slight bend. Other than this minor fault, it is in excellent condition. The fired watercolor painting is just lovely with strong glaze. This is a premium piece!
