18th Century Gilt Cherub Finial Ornament

We have a rare ornament here. It is a very detailed casting in brass or bronze with hand-engraved details of a winged cherub that measures 2 3/8 inches, wing tip to wing tip. The original mount is still present, and the obverse still retains most of its original gilding. I see this type of cherub design on colonial cemetery headstones from time to time. This is a very attractive, rare piece of art and history from the 18th century. A little treasure that is very displayable!
