Free US Shipping;Vintage Americana folk art at its' most delightful! This framed under glass, (unstained, my shadow is in the photos), 19" x 15 1/4" sampler is also a quilted piece. The needlework is really nice of a spray of flowers and leaves, vines on the top border in soft greens, yellows, pinks,and peaches. The pig is outlined in blue-green and pink, and peach. There is a pink and peach daisy with yellow leaves on either side at the bottom , and the entire pig is quilted in 6 different kinds of calico, and the quilting is puffed out and raised a bit ,intentionally,adding texture and interest. It also is handmade as you can see a small pucker in the quilt on one spot. There is a black printed legend that says "PORK" directly under the pig's belly , and under that there are corresponding numbers to the numbered quilted sections on the body for the cuts of meat. They are: 1 BUTT 2 LOIN 3 HAM 4 SPARERIBS 5 PICNIC 6 BACON The frame is aged oak,and frankly scratched in lots of places, but this gives a more antique appearance, and could be changed. The entire piece is on very old linen, in a soft tan tone, with no age marks. The back side is old brown paper, and there are 2 nails for hanging with thin old wire twisted around the nails. We have not opened the frame to see if the piece is signed, but there is no visible signature. This is a wonderful addition to a kitchen, or butcher shop, grocery store, farm, or restaurant , sewing shop,or pub. From a Florida estate, estimated age is 50 years+.
